It is one year ago today that the Directeur Général des élections du Québec (DGEQ) bestowed legal party status on the Quebec Citizens’ Union (QCU). An election, a founding convention and innumerable meetings later we are still working towards a better Quebec and we could never have done it without your support! Thank you all!
With our anniversary in view, it is with great regret that we announce the resignation of Alexis St-Gelais as Interim Leader of the QCU. We thank him for all that he has contributed to the Party during its first official year of existence and before. He remains a committed member, providing his support and guidance in the future.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the election of Marc-André Lacroix as Alexis’s successor. We look forward to working with him as we continue looking towards the future with hope and resolve.
One of our first goals for our second year of existence is the development of our regional councils. We invite you to join us at our first Regional Summit on Sunday, September 8th, 2013. This summit is currently planned for the super region of Québec (with the potential for splintering it into multiple smaller regions in situ). Details will be announced at a later time.
Looking forward to another great year with you,
UCQ Executive committee
The Quebec Citizens' Union Founding Convention, held on December 16 in Quebec, lead to the election of a new executive committee and the adoption of the party's Charter, with modifications.
Maxime Guérin was reelected as the party's coordinator. As a former UCQ candidate in Louis-Hébert and with a law degree from Laval University, he will be able to keep building the party thanks to his former experiences.
Agnes Mina Barti was elected deputy coordinator. Ms. Barti ran for the party in Jacques-Cartier in 2012. She studied physics and is involved socially and artistically. She brings to the new executive committee her dynamism and fresh ideas.
Fredrick-Anthony Ghali was nominated official representative in replacement of Patrice Bussières, who will take care of new tasks in the party. Mr. Ghali was also candidate in Robert-Baldwin. He is an undergraduate student in political science. Finally, Alexis St-Gelais remains interim leader, until a leadership convention in 2013. The rules for this race have been determined by the participants and will be made public in the coming months.
The presidents of the subsidiary committees of the party (political commission, marketing and communications committee, informatic committee and membership commitee) will be renewed to their positions or nominated by the new team soon.
A working group will soon be formed to put the final touch to the Charter and the Rules of the party, which will then be made available online.
The Quebec Citizens' Union team thanks all participants, whether they were there in person or through the web, and wishes season's greetings to everyone. We are eager to see you back in 2013!
The Quebec Citizens' Union will need all the support you can give it during the ongoing campaign. We can now accept your donations. To support us, click here.
