Convention Report
The Quebec Citizens' Union Founding Convention, held on December 16 in Quebec, lead to the election of a new executive committee and the adoption of the party's Charter, with modifications.
Maxime Guérin was reelected as the party's coordinator. As a former UCQ candidate in Louis-Hébert and with a law degree from Laval University, he will be able to keep building the party thanks to his former experiences.
Agnes Mina Barti was elected deputy coordinator. Ms. Barti ran for the party in Jacques-Cartier in 2012. She studied physics and is involved socially and artistically. She brings to the new executive committee her dynamism and fresh ideas.
Fredrick-Anthony Ghali was nominated official representative in replacement of Patrice Bussières, who will take care of new tasks in the party. Mr. Ghali was also candidate in Robert-Baldwin. He is an undergraduate student in political science. Finally, Alexis St-Gelais remains interim leader, until a leadership convention in 2013. The rules for this race have been determined by the participants and will be made public in the coming months.
The presidents of the subsidiary committees of the party (political commission, marketing and communications committee, informatic committee and membership commitee) will be renewed to their positions or nominated by the new team soon.
A working group will soon be formed to put the final touch to the Charter and the Rules of the party, which will then be made available online.
The Quebec Citizens' Union team thanks all participants, whether they were there in person or through the web, and wishes season's greetings to everyone. We are eager to see you back in 2013!
